How has COVID-19 Impacted you and your health?

covid-19 health and wellness mental health pandemic 2020 Jun 28, 2020

I've heard from many people recently that despite the fact that they haven't been sick with COVID-19, it has had detrimental effects on their health: mental, physical and emotional. Whether it be weight gain, increased anxiety, depression, stress or worry, poor concentration, difficulty sleeping or nightmares, the impact of this pandemic is hitting everyone.

How are you doing? Really...have you checked in with yourself? It's easy to get caught up in the news, social media, and our day to day lives. It’s easy to mindlessly go from one task to another without noticing that we're breathing more shallow, our heart rate is elevated, our jaw and fists are clenched or we're in the pantry every 60 minutes consuming food, not because we're hungry but because we're looking for comfort.

If you've noticed lately that you are more irritable, you're constantly exhausted despite a full nights sleep, your clothes are fitting more tightly or you're presenting with physical signs of anxiety: headaches, numbness, tingling, or elevated heart rate - you are not alone.

This time can be and feel so isolating even as things begin to open back up. Understand that this virus will impact us mentally, long before it ever actually touches us physically.

If this email resonates with you, please know that in this moment, it's an opportunity to breathe deeply, stand taller, fix your hair, adjust your clothes, get outside and take care of you. If you are reading this, you are alive and healthy. Every moment is a new opportunity to pursue your life and the version of you you want to be.

I see you. I hear you. Get back up. Go again.
